Welcome to AJ’s Oldtown Steakhouse & Tavern, a cornerstone of Homer’s "Historic Waterfront." Established over 80 years ago as the Homer Cafe and Club, we hold the honor of being the town’s first bar—and while our name has changed, our spirit remains the same. We don’t claim to be the fanciest place in town, but we believe in the magic of a great meal, a cold drink, and the hum of live dinner music.
We are proud to serve the top 2% of USDA Prime Beef in the nation, alongside the bounty of our local waters—including Kachemak Bay Halibut, Salmon, Alaskan Scallops, and King Crab. The Oldtown Ribeye
A local favorite,this cutcontains incredible marbling (lots of fat) that provides the perfect flavor and texture combination for Ribeye lovers.
Classic New York Strip
The steakhouse standard. Hand-trimmed with a robust, beefy flavor and a firm, satisfying grain. Bold, tender, and timeless.
Signature Top Sirloin
Flavor-first and incredibly tender. We sous vide this cut to give it a Filet-like texture while keeping the deep, savory character of the Sirloin.
The Filet Mignon

We’re proud to highlight Alaskan seafood. We buy local first when the season allows, working with local fishermen whenever possible and always serve wild-caught seafood for freshness and quality.
Oldtown Cioppino
A fisherman’s feast featuring a hearty medley of scallops, shrimp, and white fish in a robust, herb-infused tomato broth. Served with toasted bread for soaking up every savory drop.
Kachemak Bay Halibut
The crown jewel of Homer. We prepare this local treasure to highlight its delicate, flaky texture and mild flavor—a true taste of the North Pacific.
Wild Alaska Scallops
Golden-seared and incredibly sweet. These tender, local scallops are harvested from cold Alaskan depths and finished with a light touch to let their natural, buttery flavor shine.
Tavern Shrimp Alfredo
