OUR PHILOSOPHY

More than just a Steakhouse

Welcome to AJ’s Oldtown Steakhouse & Tavern, a cornerstone of Homer’s "Historic Waterfront." Established over 80 years ago as the Homer Cafe and Club, we hold the honor of being the town’s first bar—and while our name has changed, our spirit remains the same. We don’t claim to be the fanciest place in town, but we believe in the magic of a great meal, a cold drink, and the hum of live dinner music.

We are proud to serve the top 2% of USDA Prime Beef in the nation, alongside the bounty of our local waters—including Kachemak Bay Halibut, Salmon, Alaskan Scallops, and King Crab. Whether you’re here for a mouthwatering steak, a premium martini, or a night of family entertainment, you’ll find it served with a side of genuine goodwill. From our historic roots to your table tonight, welcome to the heart of Old Town.

An old school steakhouse. It's hard to find good dining in Alaska. At the end of our 2 week trip finally found what we were hoping for in Homer. Steaks were perfect, as was the seafood. Great atmosphere and service.
